The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Ellenki College of Engineering & Technology was set up in the year 2001, since then department has made remarkable progress towards achieving its goal. The department is offering B.Tech course in EEE and one M.Tech program in Power Electronics. The department has got a well acclaimed faculty for its R&D activities, having published Good No of papers till date in referred International Journals, National Journals and Conferences.
The department has conducted several workshops and Staff Development Programs in order to promote knowledge and upgrade skills which can cater the needs of industry and teaching fraternity. The department apart from its regular teaching and training program promotes an ambience of self development, innovativeness and inclination towards R&D among students by exposing them to the real environment, which they will come across in their subsequent professional career through industrial tours, technical symposiums, guest lectures and seminars

In view of the rising demand for Electrical Engineers, the intake of the department has been increased from 60 to 120 students from 2011.

1.  Electrical Machine Lab:
This lab is well equipped with various a.c. and d.c. machines comprising different types of motors, generators, transformers in a floor area of 250 sqm. The students will have wider scope to understand the practical aspects of various motors that are used in fans, elevators, traction etc. and various generators that explain how electrical energy will be formed.

2. Control Systems Lab:
In the industrial atmosphere, the control system equipment used is a very sophisticated and costly affair, just because of the reason that the control variables are very non-linear in nature.
Henceforth, there is a tremendous effort put forth by the institution to establish such equipment required for Control Systems Laboratory.
The software package popularly called MATLAB (approx. Rs. 10 lacs), its license is bought for 10 users which makes it easier for the students to simulate the results and study the nature of any type of system predominantly.

3. Networks Lab:
The experiments in this laboratory provide a sound basic knowledge for a beginner. All the simple circuits and the network theorems viz. Super position theorem, Thevenin’s theorem, Maximum power transfer theorem, Reciprocity theorem etc. that are studied in the theory are verified and proved.

4. Power Electronics Lab:
Power electronics circuits can be treated as high-end electronic circuits which work more efficiently in comparison with conventional circuits. This laboratory in the institution accommodates courses in both B.Tech and M.Tech levels, which intuitively explains that a huge amount is invested for establishment of this laboratory. 

5. Electrical Measurements Lab:
For electrical engineering, a saying properly fits, “difference between exactly right and approximately right”. It firmly implicates that exact values are essential in electrical engineering therefore measurement of electrical parameters like current, voltage, power, energy, resistance, capacitance, inductance, power factor, frequency are very important for proper monitoring and controlling of systems.

6. Simulation Lab:
Simulation is a process of performing the real time experiments virtually on a computer. It provides tremendous exposure to the students to explore various solutions that can be obtained for a given problem, i.e., a student may have an inner fear to work with a 220 Volts DC supply or with a 230 Volts, 50Hz AC supply, upon simulating such experiments, it is pretty much easier to explore its performance characteristics the minimum wastage of power with minimum time. Various popular and effectively result oriented licensed software packages like MATLAB, P-SIM, Multisim etc. are installed for use in this 35 desktop laboratory with 2 mbps internet connection.

The Final Year students were taken for a visit to the 33KV/11KV substation in November 2011.They have had a real-time exposure of the parts of  a subststion.the functioning of the substation and way the various faults and contingencies are handled.
